Most of us know Cree Summer from the 80s sitcom "A Different World" as Winifred Freddie Brooks. She was the cute bushy haired girl at the same university also attended by another BGN favorite Lisa Bonet. I chose to feature Cree Summer because she is one of the most popular voice actresses of our time with the least amount of notoriety. Summer's career began when she played the voice of "Penny" on the 1983 children's classic Inspector Gadget. She also voiced famous cartoon characters like "Elmyra" from Tiny Toon Adventures, "Susie" in Rugrats, and "Foxxy Love" in Drawn Together...just to name a few. Summer has voiced over 100 animated characters between 1983 and 2006.
And that's not all...Cree actually sang background vocals for the theme song to "A Different World" and also has had a music career in the alternative rock scene. In 1999, Summer released her solo album Street Faërie produced by and featuring guest artist (and friend) Lenny Kravitz.
