In acting, it takes so much to build up certain emotions, you really have to work hard and internalize a lot especially during drama scenes. Routinely, every scene is repeated 5 to 6 times for blocking and/or camera work. That is assuming it is a good take. Thus when acting is bad and needed several retakes, it would be very taxing for the production and most especially for the actors who will have to act out the scene over and over again.
In one taping day, PA and MA had a heavy dramatic scene together where PA had taken too many retakes for a crying scene alone. PA found it very difficult to meet the acting requirement of the director. As a result, her co-actor MA's very heavy scenes would have to have several retakes too, which proved to be very draining and tiring on her part.
It was at this point when the very disciplined MA, lost her cool and complained to the director. In her characteristic fashion similar to her movies, MA showed what she was made of. With gravy-thick sarcasm, she angrily blurted out (in tagalog):
" What the f, direk! How long are we going to waste time with these endless retakes?! I always come to the set very prepared with all my heavy scenes, and then that (referring to PA), she can't even cry?! can't even act?! Did she ever do workshop? Is she really an actress?! "
Then she let out a big sigh. PA who was just within the area, heard everything said about her and cried. Oh well .. poor thing.
On the other hand, while she was at it (crying), perhaps PA could have used that to motivate herself in her scenes with MA. Or probably her heartaches and jealous fits with the love of her life. Acting 101. Just saying.
