Mi-Me Beauty Tip Of The Week
This past weekend while sterilizing a few glass bottles in preparation for a DIY project, I ended up doing more facial steaming than sterilizing. By the time I realized that I had abandoned my original plan, I was semi hooked and proceeded to steam for the next 10 minutes. Facial steaming can be done by wetting a clean towel in hot water, wringing it out, allowing it to cool slightly, and then applying it to your face. Steaming can also be done by bringing a pot of water to a boil, turning off the stove, draping a clean towel over your head, and placing your face above the pot to trap the steam. Make sure that your face is at least 18 inches away from the pot to prevent get burned. you can repeat the steaming session three or four times for 2 minutes each session, while allowing your skin a chance to breathe for 1-2 minutes in between each session.
Benefits of steaming include skin free of dead cells, bacteria, dirt and toxins; increased circulation, and unclogged pores. Feel free to drop a handful of dried chamomile buds, rose petals, rosemary, or lavender for added benefits. If you have sever acne or redness steaming can make it worse, so please consult a physician prior to steaming at home.
** Steaming for more than 5-10 minutes is not recommended and should not be done more than once a week.**
Cheers!
