Meanwhile, the negative publicities started to emerge. UP was labelled a user, bad host, arrogant, etc. Of course, the “bad stories” were signs that showed UP was about to have a good career. He was finally being noticed and had the opportunity to gain publicity by answering those issues. As the cliché goes, good or bad publicity is still publicity. In this country, publicity is important to drum up interest in the career of starting performers.
However, UP seems to be mishandling this situation thus making him unpopular with the press. Instead of gaining the sympathy from them, UP is slowly getting them out of his way. In a press event for an endorsement, the press got irked by his arrogance. While the media rushed to interview him, UP kept pointing to his handler for the reporters to get permission first. Even his station got the same treatment. The crew had already set up and asked him if they could ask even just three questions. UP did not budge and remained still. To their dismay, some press people could not help but lament how the bigger stars devote time to meet the press. Well, if no one bothers to check this UP's attitude this early, chances are all his efforts to get to where he is now will just go down the drain. Remember that his movie even after the success of his teleseryes did not earn as much as the production had expected.
Hope it's not yet late for UP to mend his ways. As one talent manager once said: Fame is toxic. It can turn an upstart into a monster in 6 months.
