Doctor! Doctor!

This week I have a scheduled appointment to see the doctor.  I’m ashamed to say that it has been well over a year since my last examination.  Am I the only one that rather visit a dentist than a doctor?  I just find the whole experience to be quite nauseating if you ask me.  I know that sounds extreme, but frankly that is simply how I feel about the whole process.

First there is the scheduled appointment.  It’s usually at an inconvenient time---either too early or too late.  Then when you arrive, you sign in and fill out all of these dreaded forms where you have write an essay paper about your medical history.
When was my last period?  Do you seriously think I remember when I had my last menstrual cycle?

I can barely remember what I ate yesterday.  After that is the waiting.  Oh yes…this is my favorite part.  Sitting in a room with people twice my age and being forced to watch a program on TV I never watch.  If I attempt to grab something to read, like a magazine subscription from 2002.

Jennifer Anniston and Brad Pitt are back together?  Oh wait this People Magazine was published 10 years ago!

At that point you give up reading anything and play games on your cell phone or check up on your Facebook feed and force your phone’s battery to be drained substantially.

Finally, when the nurse actually decides to call you into the office to see the doctor, you’re so disoriented from waiting that she’s got to holler your name twice because you forgot you were actually waiting to see the doctor!  My doctor is actually pretty hot---not to mention his name is Dr. Player so that’s kind of funny.  I actually enjoy that part of my visit, but the rest totally sucks to me.  I guess I should just be grateful that I have health insurance and I can take on the task of physical check-ups, pap smears, lab tests, etc.  It’s a blessing to be covered for all of those things, because frankly if I wasn’t, I doubt I would be going to the doctor at all.  There’s a cool site about information on health insurance if you don’t have coverage.

Check out more about short term health insurance here.

Well wish me luck as I go to see Dr. Player this week.  Should be oodles of fun.
