Who: Blerdology, the tech social enterprise to support and engage the black tech community and the first organization to produce hackathons specifically targeting African Americans.
What: In support of the National Day of Civic Hacking, Blerdology is teaming with the e-diplomacy division of the US State Dept., Code for America, Chevy, Microsoft, Zoomph and more to host and cross promote an exciting breadth of events and happenings across the district between May 31 – June 1.
Kicking off with a closed Tech Camp Preview on May 31st, Blerdology will connect community leaders with technologists for social good as a part of the U.S. State Department’s Tech Camp Initiative. The following day Blerdology will help support the Code for America DC Brigade as they host a 2-day community hackathon at Google (Day 1) and the Affinity Lab (Day 2). In between the coding sessions Blerdology will host Blerds + Hackers, the official National Day of Civic Hacking After party from 7 pm to 10 pm on June 1st at tech incubator 1776.
Blerds + Hackers will rally the top tech enthusiasts in Washington for a fun filled evening of networking, live music and entrepreneurial empowerment. Attendees will get a sneak peek of the new line up of vehicles from sponsor Chevy and the hottest startups launching in the district over complimentary drinks from D’USSE, a delicious assortment of treats from Cane Sweets, and music by Tony T and the Keith Wesby Project. Influencer engagement platform Zoomph will be the social media sponsor and community partners include Code for America DC Brigade, DiversiTech, Blogalicious, Color of Tech, Just Carrington, Dominique Broadway, and Sugar Rim Bartending.

Code for America DC Brigade & The Affinity Lab Present DC Hack for Change Day 2 - Sunday, June 2nd | Location: The Affinity Lab 11:00 am to 4:00 pm
We will roll up our sleeves to start a new project while others join us to put the finish touches on their efforts from Saturday. Sunday will also feature a discussion component to consider the impact beyond the weekend on the local D.C. community.
