Spring 2013 Floral Fanatic

Every year, florals never fail to be another huge trend for Spring.  In all honesty, are florals even exciting anymore?  Spring 2013 tells us that it is, with oversized and 3D florals that are bigger, bolder, and better.  Some of us may still be afraid to join the floral bandwagon, whereas some of us are self-professed experts. Whether you want to test the waters, or jump right in, I hope my guide to wearing florals gives you the confidence to bloom this Spring.

A printed handbag, a pair of floral shoes, or even a necklace of blooming buds...there's no worry of looking too flowery when you've contained the trend to one accessory.  Don't be afraid, therefore, to bring emphasis to your decorated accessory by keeping the rest of your outfit neutral.  If you find your accessory stands out too much against a neutral canvas, the key is to pick a solid color from your floral print, and apply it to the rest of your accessories. Voilà!  A fresh, breezy Spring outfit that packs a punch.

Now you're ready to move beyond a single standout accessory and actually start wearing floral.  Choose whether you wish to highlight your top or bottom half, and pick a printed piece accordingly.  There are many varying degrees of floral for you to choose from this season, starting at mere flower accents and moving on to full-on floral.  Again, keep the rest of your outfit neutral and pick out solid colors from your decorated piece.  Metal accents work wonderfully, and if you're feeling bold, throw in a pair of pretty rose bud earrings.

At this step, you've got a fashionable event to attend, and you want to stun.  Head-to-toe floral will guarantee you get those envious stares, and what's more, florals that don't match will blow everyone away.  To avoid drowning in your outfit, ensure your pieces are well-tailored, your accessories are at an absolute minimum, and your prints match each other in color scheme.  Generally, the rule of thumb is to pair small, dense flower prints with bigger, more impactful blooms, but as it is in fashion, what are rules if not meant to be broken?
