With summer rapidly approaching, the shops are alive with seasonal fashion trends. This is great news if you’re planning a girly getaway, so what should you throw in your suitcase this year?

The right swimwear

Whether you’re short, tall, athletic or curvaceous, it’s important to choose the right swimwear for your body shape. If you’re tall and slim, for instance, additional frills will fake an hourglass shape, but if you carry weight around your middle, rouching over the tummy area might be more flattering. What’s more, if you’re big-busted naturally or as a result of a breast enlargement procedure underwired tops are a must, but if you have petit assets you can get away with less support.

Stylish daywear

If you’re hoping to do a little sightseeing while you’re away, Bermuda shorts are ideal. They’re bang on trend for the summer season and were seen all over the catwalks in London, Paris, Milan and New York. Culottes (a bit like the ones you might have worn at school, but way cooler) have also made a comeback and are sophisticated, stylish and comfortable to wear on a day out. Team your outfit with fluorescent top and some pointy flats and you’ll be ready for any adventure.

Sassy evening wear

After a long, hot day in the sun it can be great to wash the sun cream away and get dolled up for the night – and for that you need some sassy evening wear. Peekaboo trends are highly fashionable at the moment as are heavily embellished jump suits, fluorescent tops and pencil skirts. Sporty dresses are also ideal for those with a slender or athletic body shape as the A-line skirt effect adds more curves to the hips.

Some seasonal makeup

If the warm weather has cleared up your spots and your skin is glowing, why not go au naturel? The sun-kissed look is highly attractive, so make the most of your radiant complexion while you still can. If you need a helping hand, however, or want to spice things up bright red lipsticks, standout shades of eye shadow and heavy mascara are the way forward this year. Blue and green eyeliner was even used by at Moschino and Michael Kors during fashion week 2013 and will look great in a warm climate.
