I Am My Sister Initiative

Can you imagine a future where black women of all shades, sizes and status stand united? Can you imagine a future where black women run to welcome the little black baby girl into the world and vow to love, protect, and support her because she is their sister? Can you imagine a future where black women celebrate each other because they understand an opportunity for one means more opportunities for all?

These words come from Brandi Hawthrone, the writer for the blog Woman, Eat.  She is taking to social media via Twitter to create a prolific movement among black women!  We want all of our BGN readers to become a part of it! On Saturday, August 3rd and Sunday, August 4th to create awareness and unity among African-American women.

Here is an excerpt from her site:

My name is Brandi. And, I'm hosting a twitter hashtag party for #IAmMySister on Saturday, August 3rd and Sunday, August 4th to create awareness and unity among African-American women. In the upcoming weeks, please use social media to spread the word to your followers, friends, and family. Sisters uniting has been a hot topic lately! Great minds think alike, right? If you haven't caught these great shows/documentaries, please try to catch a re-run before our hashtag party on August 3rd and 4th!
