Google Announced As Title Sponsor of FOCUS100’s Global Mobile Hackathon



Who: digitalundivided (DID), a social enterprise that builds forward thinking initiatives that fundamentally change the digital space by increasing the number of urban women digital entrepreneurs.

What: digitalundivided is honored to announce Google as the title sponsor of The Global Mobile Hack ™ October 5-6, 2013 at the Ogilvy Headquarters in New York City. Aligning with Google’s company mission of organizing the world’s information and make it universally accessible, the overnight hackathon is designed to increase access to data/information on mobile platforms in urban communities domestically and abroad. The hackathon is a new addition to the annual FOCUS100 Symposium which strives to connect tech companies with founders/co-founders who are black women, angel and venture investors, leading corporations, and those interested in the future of tech. The Global Mobile Hack ™ will kick off on the morning of the 5th and break for keynote luncheon with MC Hammer at noon and a 6 pm dinner sponsored by Mobile Future, a coalition of cutting-edge technology and communications companies and a diverse group of non-profit organizations, working to support investment and innovation in the wireless sector.

Coders will work through the night with the assistance of a talented team of mentors including Jan Baker of Somo Ltd, Microsoft’s Scott Hanselman and Tara Walker, technology evangelist Adria Richards, and Tobias Wright of Victoria’s Secret. Participant submissions and presentations will be judged based on their creativity, design and ux, their effective use of sponsors APIs, and utility in an urban community. Judges for the event include Interactive One CTO Navarrow Wright, Allison Remsen of Mobile Future, Brian Dixon of Kapor Capital, Corey Neufville of Facebook, Tumblr’s Kyle Wanamaker, and Eghosa Omoigui of EchoVC.

Though the hackathon is anticipated to have an attendance of over 25% African American women, event registration is open to everyone. Space is limited for the hackathon and interested developers must pre-register to attend at www.digitalundivided.com/hacktest.html.
