In showbiz, there is the shocking break-up of the 5-year relationship of Billy Crawford and Nikki Gil. Not as shocking, but equally surprising was the expiration of Derek Ramsey and Cristine Reyes' one-month love affair. And recently, the misfortune that befell Luis Manzano and Jennylyn Mercado's love story just two days into their second anniversary.
Not to be outdone are the controversies between Cesar Montano and Sunshine Cruz, as well as the long and headline-hogging legal battle between ex-spouses Claudine Barretto and Raymart Santiago.
And of course, who can forget the tedious and painful saga of the Barretto's?
On the political front, never had the country been witness to such mind-boggling corruption scandals ever. The reported misuse of billions upon billions of taxpayers' money that went to Congress PDAF Priority Development Assistance Fund aka Pork Barrel funds are supposed to have massively corrupted the minds and the souls of our Public Servants.
Historically, nowhere would we have known that these supposedly Honorable Statesmen will be presumed as lawmakers slash lawbreakers slash thieves of unimaginable proportions. Where do we run to now?
We have been badly hit by countless calamities in the past, year in and year out. But the magnitude of the recent events - all compressed within a year - is something to take a hard look on and deserve some serious reflection.
Some people say that our Creator must have been angered so bad that He allowed these tragedies to happen so close to each other: typhoons, war in Zamboanga, earthquakes in the Visayas resulting in hunger all over - all deadly, catastrophic and mind-boggling.
A few analysts and soothsayers point out that the #13 in 2013 has something to do with it. Others say this signifies that the second coming of Christ is upon us. It may be biblical, scientific or superstition - what is your take?
