A Difficult Milestone

In terms of programming, each local television network has its strengths and weaknesses - like a line of expertise. For example, a network maybe good at presenting awesome musical variety shows and or talk shows but sucks at handling news and current affairs - or one can be excellent at news and public affairs but no sizable audience on the lucrative telenovela programs and reality shows.

Apparently, a New Teleserye NT had to be axed this early by its network. There was so much expectation from NT owing to its high drama and extraordinary genre plus its big cast headed by the network's top actors and directed by big names in the industry.

NT was supposed to have a long run, but due to poor ratings and less advertisement plus high production cost, it had to be shortened before producers start to lose more money and well, credibility. NT was given until the first few weeks of 2014.

Supposedly, Another New Teleserye AT which stars Actress/Host AH and fellow reality Search Winners SW will be shown in the afternoon slot, but since there will be a hole in the primetime programming with the departure of NT, AT will be moved to primetime as NT replacement.

And now for the latest development, NT which was earlier shortened to run until first few weeks of next year was shortened even further and will only air until the last few days of this year. Overheard that a movie re-run is set to replace NT.

Furthermore, a Drama Series DS which is currently airing which casts some Sexy Stars SS will only air until this year – again also due to poor ratings and low advertising. Reportedly, a movie re-run will air in its timeslot.

In light of the state of its primetime series, the network has reportedly made a crucial decision - that it will already stop producing teleseryes. Obviously, the bombshell decision was a difficult one for the bosses. It has been quite a while that the network been on the losing end with its series and recovering such losses is no easy feat.

“Some people believe holding on and hanging in there are signs of great strength. However, there are times when it takes much more strength to know when to let go and then do it.” ~ Ann Landers
