Cameras recorded an apparent hostage-taking inside a restaurant in Quezon City last Saturday, which turned out to be an elaborate prank ending as an actual wedding proposal.

The video of the prank, which was uploaded on YouTube by producer Tootoots Leyesa, shows a couple browsing items at the Van Gogh Is Bipolar restaurant.

According to the introduction shown in the video, the footage was taken "on the evening of 23 November 2013."

The set-up: an armed man being chased by the police, played by film actor Leon Miguel, goes inside the restaurant and takes the boyfriend hostage. "Faced with the possibility of dying, the hostage had one simple wish," the introduction read.

Taken from two angles -- one from the restaurant's CCTV camera and another from a hidden camera -- the video shows the chilling skit of a violent hostage-taker shouting and cursing at the pleading man

"Damay-damay na 'to, [expletive]," the irate hostage-taker says as he tugs at the man's collar.

"Wala naman kaming ginagawa sa inyo, eh," protests the hostage, who is sitting on a chair. "Kakain lang kami, o. Bigyan niyo man lang ako ng pagkakataon... Hindi ko pa nga napapakasalan 'tong girlfriend ko, eh."

The man's pleading gets a violent reaction from the suspect.

Although not seen as she is seated in a corner of the restaurant, the woman is heard telling her boyfriend to stop talking. "Babe, huwag ka na magsalita!"

The boyfriend, however, continues, "Gusto ko lang pakasalan 'yung girlfriend ko! Huwag ganito!"

The suspect then appears to push the man towards his girlfriend. Still in character, the hostage-taker hands the man a ring and allows him to propose.

The boyfriend quips, "Puwede bang hulugan 'to?"

He continues, now addressing his girlfriend, "It has been a roller coaster ride for the past four, five years for us... I don't know the perfect timing for this, but I think right now is the right time for this -- to ask you: Will you be my partner in case of a zombie apocalypse?"

"May I have the honor to be your husband? Will you marry me?" the man asks, now kneeling on the floor in front of his girlfriend.

Wiping tears as she laughs, the woman says yes.

A number of men, who appear to be accomplices in the prank, then emerge as they applaud and congratulate the newly engaged couple.

"Ang galing niyo umarte!" says the woman, still wiping tears.

As of writing, the YouTube video of the proposal had over 5,000 views.

Leyesa, the producer of the video, told ABS-CBNnews.com in an e-mail on Wednesday that the couple, therapist Calvin Leorna and kids' yoga teacher Annabelle Jay-Ar Trono, have been together for over four years.

They are planning to get married in late December.
