My So-Called Online Dating Life Part 5
This is an ongoing series folks. Perhaps when I find Mr. Right the series will end. Dear God I hope this series will inevitably end, otherwise I will have to---dare I say---settle.
Perish the thought.
So I received a random email from OKCupid from the blerd I was chatting with back on my Part 3 post a few months back. The email was short and succinct. The email greeting said the following:
Hi Jamie. How are you? Hope all is well.
Here is my question I would like to ask everyone out there---and if you're a guy, please explain the logic behind my quandary.
Why do guys that choose to stand you up, turn around several months later and choose to email, text, or call you out of the blue as if nothing happened?
This is not the first time this has happened to me. As a matter of fact, this happens to me quite often. My face right now is contorting to looks of confusion as I'm typing this because seriously, why do guys do this?? If you read Part 3 of my series, you will get some background on this guy and see what happened. However, seeing as though he's not the only one who has done this to me, is it purely a "guy thing"?
Did he find someone else when he dismissed me and now that they've split up he wants to check up on his "backup chick"?
Is he just bored and happened to scroll down to through his previous emails and felt a little nostalgic and decided to email me to see what's up?
Or is he just a complete moron?
I would say the latter, but I'm a bit partial, so I'll leave you to answer those questions on your own. I'm just sitting here absolutely perplexed by the notion that this guy had the audacity to reach out to me after he stood me up.
I guess I can look at it this way, at least he dissed me in the beginning and didn't waste too much of my time. I'm starting to give up you guys. I even cancelled my AfroRomance account. I'm thinking of trying the other paid websites to give it a chance, but I'm starting to really feel like there is just no hope. Sometimes I wonder if its geography. I live in a small town and the ratio of women to men is 4 to 1. That's right. In my town, there is one man for every four women who live here.
I gotta get out of here.
