Holly Jolly Holiday Tag

The holidays are here! I love this time of year. :)

If you watch youtube beauty gurus then you may have already heard of beautybaby44 and if not then go check her out. She makes some pretty good videos. A bit ago she put up her Holly Jolly Holiday Tag and I thought it would be a great blog post. These questions are from her first and second tag.

On to the tag....

1. Do you start your Christmas shopping on Black Friday or wait until the last minute?

I have already started Christmas shopping. I start from the day after Christmas on through the whole year. Haha! Basically if I find a good deal I'm all about picking it up and putting it back til the time comes. However, I start the majority of my shopping around the beginning of October. I usually like to be done by Dec 1st so I can actually enjoy December.

2. If you could be in any Christmas movie what would it be?

All of them... Haha! There probably isn't a single Christmas movie that I don't love. Yes, even the cheesy Hallmark, Lifetime, and ABC family movies that come on every year. ;)

3. Which do you like better: Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?

That is hard because now that my hubby and I get to play Santa Christmas Eve is a lot of fun but Christmas Day is probably the best when you get to see your daughter get all excited.

4. When does your family put up your Christmas tree and who decorates it?

The day after or weekend after Thanksgiving is the usual time we try to shoot for but when you have kids you kind of just go with the flow. We put ours up the weekend before last. haha! I do the majority of the decorating with a little help from my daughter. The hubby used to help with lights but our tree now is prelit so no need for that for now.

5. White lights or colored lights?

clear lights... I really like colored lights too though. I wished I had one of those new prelit trees were you can change the lights from clear to colored. That would be sweet. :)

6. Are you guilty of peeking at your presents or do you like the surprise?

I would much rather be surprised. However, I usually end up knowing just about everything I get for Christmas because my hubby is a horrible surprise giver. haha

7. Would you rather live in a gingerbread house or in Santa's Workshop?

Santa's workshop... All the elf's and toys would be great. ;)

8. Tell us your Christmas Eve traditions!

It really just depends on whether we are home with family or not but here lately it has been just my hubby, daughter, and I on Christmas Eve. We usually watch Christmas movies all day and sometimes decorate gingerbread houses or something fun like that. At night we will bake cookies for Santa and get them all set out. Once our daughter is in bed we get down to Santa business.

9. If you could be under the mistletoe with anyone who would it be?

My amazing hubby! :)

10. What tops your tree?

a wooden star and a bunch of picks

11. Can you name the 12 days of Christmas?

a partridge and a pear tree, 2 turtle doves, 3 french hens, 4 calling birds, 5 golden rings, 6 geese a laying, 7 swans a swimming, 8 maids a milking, 9 ladies dancing 10 lords a leaping, 11 pipers piping and 12 drummer drumming.... I think that is right. I have this Christmas nook app that has this song on it and my daughter listens to it all the time. If it isn't right then I would be really surprised. haha

12. Have you ever gone Christmas caroling?

I have but it has been years and years ago. I believe I was in elementary school and yeah well I have been out of high school for over 10 years. :P

13. Do you countdown to Christmas? If so, how many days are left?

Yes... 35 days as of today :) I can't believe how fast it's coming.

14. What are some foods and treats you can count on having every holiday season?

turkey, chicken and dressing, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, potato salad, cranberry sauce, rolls, deviled eggs, pecan pie, .... way to much food.

15. How has Christmas kept its magic for you as you've grown older?

I have always loved Christmas. My hubby and I use to go all out for decorating and it was the best. We don't do as much outside decorating anymore because we have moved a couple of times and dragging Christmas stuff around everywhere is a bit much but we still do a little. I know that when he retires from the Army and we get settled again it's on. haha! Anna (our daughter) helps keep Christmas a real joy to. It has been so much fun doing the Santa thing and the Elf on the shelve stuff. She has a blast and the hubby and I love to just play into it.

more questions....

1. Favorite Christmas Movie?

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation... This probably wouldn't be everyones fave but my hubby and I love it. We usually like to watch it the weekend right before Christmas and only one time during the holiday season.

2. Are you on the Naughty list or the Nice list?

Nice of course. ;)

3. Show us an embarrassing Christmas Card photo!

I would if I was at home and could grab some pictures from my parents home but I'm not. You wouldn't want to see those anyways. haha

4. Have you ever had a White Christmas?

Yes, it snowed here last Christmas. I have had a few before that as well.

5. Where do you usually spend your holiday?

It really depends on the year. We will be going home to TN for Christmas this year and spending a week there with all our family then coming back here the day before Christmas Eve and spending the rest of Christmas here at home.

6.Play or Sing your favorite Christmas Song!

both...

7. Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?

Sometimes... It usually is new PJ's for Christmas morning.

8. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer?

Dasher, dancer, prancer, vixen, comet, cupid, donner, bliztzen ... of course Rudolph too. ;)

9. What holiday tradition are you looking forward to most this year?

All of it... good family time, good food, lights, music, classic movies, Santa... etc

10. Is your Christmas tree real or fake?

fake... I'm allergic to the real thing. :(

11. Hands down, what's your all-time favorite holiday food and holiday sweet treat?

food... chicken and dressing
sweet treat... pecan pie

12. Be Honest: do you like giving gifts or receiving gifts better?

I like giving because it is so much better see peoples reactions than my own. Receiving is great too but giving makes me happy when I see other people so excited.

13. Show us your tackiest Christmas attire (ex: Ugly Sweater)

I don't have any tacky Christmas attire that I can recall. A lot of my friends have ugly sweater/secret Santa get togethers but we have never really got into that.

14. What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?

Hmmm... Ireland... that is my dream place holiday or not.

15. Does your family have a special holiday recipe you like to help make?

I would usually help my mom make pies or her famous baked beans.

16. Are you a pro-present wrapper, or do you fail miserably?

proish... I do great starting out and slowing but surely get tired of wrapping and it doesn't look as crisp.

17. Most memorable Holiday moment?

The year my husband proposed was pretty memorable.. 2001.. Then our daughter's first Christmas was as well.

18. What made you realize the truth about Santa?

I found gifts one year and later they were from Santa. haha! I never did tell my parents. My brother would always say as long as you believe the more gifts we'll get. ;) We kept on believing for years even though I'm pretty sure my parents had figured it out by then.

19. Do you make New Years Resolutions? Do you stick to them?

Sometimes and usually not

20. What makes the Holidays special for you?

Spending time with my family
